Surveyor Assistant- Jefferson County (Environmental Services)
Job Summary
Jefferson County is seeking well-qualified, motivated Surveyor Assistants to prepare for survey activities, assist in locating boundary and utility lines, clear obstructions, and ensure the survey area is safe for all employees.

Typical Job Duties
- Assists Survey Party Chief or Surveyor in planning, coordinating, and assisting in the operation of survey equipment.
- Prepares for surveying activities by ensuring work truck is stocked with necessary supplies, assisting in locating boundary lines, utility lines, and landmarks, clearing obstructions, and ensuring safety protocol is followed.
- Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines.
Physical Demands
- Sustained periods of moderate physical activity such as walking on unstable ground for long distances, bending, twisting, climbing, crouching, crawling.
- Occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to use hands and fingers to handle and manipulate small parts such as machinery or other equipment.
- Exposure to biological and/or chemical hazards, unpleasant smells, poisonous plants and dangerous animals, reptiles, or insects.
- Exposure to inclement weather (e.g., extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, wind).
- Required to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, safety belts, glasses, gloves, or hard hats.
