Surveying Technician II

About the role

The Right-of-Way Services (ROWS) Survey Section seeks a full-time, unlimited Surveying Technician II. The Survey Section’s 20 professional and technical staff provide land survey expertise to DOTI and other city agencies. Responsibilities include reviewing private and city development projects, assisting with land acquisition and real estate, and managing subdivision plats, site plans, annexations, street vacations, easement dedications, land disposal, leases, and addressing. Surveying controls right-of-way and development locations, protecting the city’s most valuable assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew and perform intermediate-level survey technician duties for field and office surveys, site analysis, and review.
• Provide final design survey deliverables using AutoCAD (topographic maps).
• Research city records and perform boundary and right-of-way surveys.
• Conduct and review horizontal and vertical control surveys.
• Perform QA/QC checks on construction projects.
• Execute mathematical computations for various projects.
• Perform construction layout for engineering projects.
• Train and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
• Two years of experience as a Surveying Technician.
• Additional appropriate education may substitute for the minimum experience requirements.
• Valid Driver’s License at the time of application (must maintain current licensure).

Pay

Competitive pay ranging from $25.30 to $37.96 hourly, with new hires typically starting between $26.00 and $32.00 hourly based on experience.

Schedule

Four (4) 10-hour shifts: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Location

Primary work location: Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202. Most days will be spent working in the field.
