About the role
Haley Ward is seeking a Survey Technician to support daily operations, including boundary, topographic, as-built surveys, and construction layout.
Responsibilities
- Proficiency with optical and digital instruments, handheld controllers, and data collectors
- Maintain and safeguard precision equipment, work vehicles, and ensure the availability of necessary supplies
- Equipment and supplies maintenance
- Check and clean instruments including EDM, GPS, rods and prisms
- Check and adjust plumb rod bubble
- Sharpen cutting tools
- Inspect and recharge equipment batteries
- Check the general operative condition of assigned vehicle, including gas, oil and tire pressure
- Secure vehicle and equipment at the end of the workday, Remove and store instruments and other valuables in the office
- Inventory supplies and restock as needed; identify/obtain-needed supplies required for the day’s work assignments
- Clear underbrush for instrument sighting
- Set wooden stakes and iron pins into ground as directed
- Transport equipment and supplies as needed to operate and measure distance with a total station
- Obtain readings from standard, direct reading, cut and fill rods
- Absorb and apply instructions from the Field Survey Party Chief
- Operate Data Collectors as directed by Field Survey Party Chief to assemble Company standardized information
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of survey experience preferred
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Working knowledge of land surveying practices and techniques
- Knowledge of modern survey devices and modern survey methods
- Comfortable with using a machete, shovel and sledgehammer or other appropriate tools
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with project managers, subordinates, related personnel and limited contact with the general public
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
