Survey Technician

About the Role

Under the supervision of a Licensed Surveyor or Senior Survey Technician, the Survey CAD Technician will perform surveying and mapping duties. This role supports office and field staff by producing maps, plats, drawings, and reports while championing the company’s core values and maintaining client satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Set up jobs for drafting and review plats upon completion.
• Prepare project field work and provide crews with all required information.
• Import survey field data and maintain existing data files.
• Check preliminary data and final products to ensure quality control.
• Input deeds and plats into CAD software for analysis.
• Research and map source documentation, including deeds, legal documents, construction plans, and technical writing.
• Analyze right-of-way documentation and pipeline alignment sheets.
• Demonstrate understanding of public right-of-way, private easements, and utilities (water, sewer, electric, gas, etc.).
• Knowledge of city, parish, state, and local municipality permits (encroachment, traffic control, environmental) is highly desired.
• Assemble survey reports using measurement, photography, and AutoCAD skills.
• Read and interpret project documents.
• Collaborate with the processing team to ensure scope alignment and project quality.
• Provide updates and communicate with project managers and survey teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Associate degree in survey, drafting, design, or a related field.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (required) and ArcGIS or ArcMAP (preferred).
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and a self-starter.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and muddy environments.
• Ability to work in high or precarious places.
• Frequent travel and overtime, including weekends, as needed.
• Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
