About the role

This position is responsible for making precise measurements to determine property boundaries and providing data relevant to the shape and contour of the Earth's surface for engineering, mapmaking, and construction projects. The land surveyor may perform topographic and boundary surveys, prepare plats, flood certificates, and construction stakeout. The surveyor will work closely with project managers and survey technicians to ensure seamless project transitions. Responsibilities include field verification, quality control, quality assurance of survey data, researching land and survey records, preparing plots, maps, and report deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Perform topographic and boundary surveys.
  • Prepare plats, flood certificates, and construction stakeouts.
  • Ensure field verification, quality control, and quality assurance of survey data.
  • Research land and survey records and land titles.
  • Prepare plots, maps, and report deliverables.
  • Work closely with project managers and survey technicians to transition projects seamlessly.

Qualifications

  • Experience in survey and land surveying.
  • Project management expertise.
  • LS or LSIT certification required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Micro-Station, Carlson software, and Topcon (Civil Suite, SurvCE).
  • Knowledge of ALTA/ACSM standards.
  • Understanding of Virginia DPOR regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations, codes, and Virginia's Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM).
  • GIS (Geographic Information System) technology.
  • GPS (Global Positioning System) technology.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations requiring probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Skill in interpreting construction plans, specifications, maps, plats, and legal descriptions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, contractors, staff, and management.
  • Capability to direct, supervise, train, and evaluate performance of assigned staff.

Work Environment

This role involves worksharing, which may require temporary assignments to projects in other offices, potentially involving travel and weekend stays. The individual must be willing and able to travel throughout Virginia and surrounding states, and work overtime as needed.

Pay

$90,000.00 - $120,000.00/yr
