Survey Party Chief
Job Summary
The Party Chief is responsible for the overall management of the survey crew, works under the direction of the Project Manager and Construction Manager, serves as client liaison, is responsible for the safety of the crew and equipment, manages computations, and maintains safety standards.
Job Function(s)

- Variety of construction stake out projects.
- Topographic surveys.
- Performs mathematical calculations for field checking data.
- Takes accurate and clear notes in the field.
- Reads and understands engineering drawings.
- Know basic sources of measurement errors.
- Know principles of monumentation, staking and marking.
- Responsible for the quality and performance of survey crew.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all Company equipment.
- Self-motivated and organized with good decision-making skills.
- Accurate completion of time and expenses.
- Responsible for submitting data and notes daily.
- Responsible for meeting with clients and public landowners as required in a professional manner.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
Qualifications
- Must have 5 years working as a Party Chief Surveyor on a new construction site.
- Must have 1+ year’s supervisory experience.
- Proficient in managing crew, time, and costs.
- Must have good leadership and communication skills.
- Must have a good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
- Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training.
- Must obtain and maintain active status within the required drug testing program.
- Must Pass a Background Check.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
- Able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Work outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of times up to 12 hours a day.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Pay
The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is $41.00 to $47.00 per hour. Full range for this position, available overtime: $41.00 - $47.00 hour.
