Survey Field Technician - Entry-Level/Rod Person

Responsibilities

• Load truck with the necessary equipment and supplies needed throughout the day.
• Transport and set up instruments/equipment and prepare the job site for the survey.
• Clear brush and trees away from the survey line.
• Hold the prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points.
• Measure distances between points using tape or electronic equipment.
• Assist with various pieces of survey equipment.
• Operate surveying equipment with supervisor oversight.

Requirements

• High School diploma and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
• Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history.
• Ability to travel; some overnight travel may be required.
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use).
• Adequate knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types of work.
• Ability to hold and proficiently use a prism pole, rods, and other measuring devices.
• Ability to lift the pieces of equipment required for a project.
