Note: This role involves travel throughout Central Virginia for site surveys.

Responsibilities

The Survey Engineer II is responsible for collaborating with Project Managers and Construction Managers to quote new Central Office work for customers. This includes developing the scope of work, engineering requirements, material requirements, and resource requirements.

General Engineering Guidelines – Survey and Detail Engineering Split

The Survey Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Survey the job within the report card matrix interval (or by the date given by the manager) and send findings to the quote team and manager.
• Request venue access, including power and transport.
• Provide sketched drawings for the detailed specification (e.g., cable rack, cable route, panduit, lighting, bay placement) using tools like Excel, Visio, or CAD. Note: These are not venue drawings.
• Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) for all major materials. This is not sent to purchasing but is used for the FPQ and to assist the detailer.
• Work with the detail engineer to address any questions that arise during the detail engineering phase.
• Inform the FPQ Revision group if a change order is required due to scope changes after the quote has been submitted.
• Take necessary pictures of the site.
• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

The Detail Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Add remaining parts to the BOM and send it to purchasing.
• Create and submit the bar code request form to the Verizon Bar Code group.
• Develop the detail engineering spec package, including all required forms (e.g., test records, checklists, material disposition).
• Write the Method of Procedure (MOP).
• Perform a quality audit of the COAR/CCC once notified by the COAR engineer and collaborate on corrections if needed.
• Enter data into COAR/CCC for designated jobs.
• Notify the manager when the entire spec package is completed for quality auditing.
• Support installation on any materials or engineering issues.
• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

Pay

$65,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience.
