Survey Technician II

Assist survey crews in various aspects of land surveying, including data collection, instrument operation, and basic computations, to support construction and engineering projects. This role requires a strong understanding of surveying principles and the ability to work effectively in diverse field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Assist the Party Chief with field data collection, stakeout, and monumentation.
  • Perform basic calculations and adjustments of survey data under supervision.
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, survey plats, and construction drawings.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, and other documentation.
  • Transport and set up survey equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Clear lines of sight and establish control points as directed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Party Chief or Survey Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in land surveying or a related field.
  • Proficient in the operation of total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Basic understanding of surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center) is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
