About the role
AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) is seeking a permanent full-time Survey Crew Leader. We offer a supportive work environment and an outstanding opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of survey equipment, including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, GPS, laser scanners, and TSC5 data collectors.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and professional field notes.
- Supervise and mentor field crew personnel and lead a one- to two-person crew.
- Collect data for boundary, topographic, industrial, and construction surveys.
- Conduct quality control by reviewing final maps and ensuring accuracy.
- Continuously pursue professional development to expand knowledge, resolve boundary issues, and prepare for LSIT/PLS exams.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2+ years’ relevant experience as a Survey Crew Leader, with demonstrated growth in responsibilities preferred.
- Must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.
- Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards in the field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or a related field (nice to have).
- Land Survey Intern (LSI) certification (nice to have).
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with others (nice to have).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to guide and motivate a team (nice to have).
- Solid mathematical background with a practical understanding of surveying calculations (nice to have).
