Survey Crew Chief

About the role

Neel-Schaffer, an Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design firm with offices in nine states, has an immediate opportunity for a Survey Crew Chief to join our growing engineering firm. This position will be based in our Starkville, MS office. Travel will be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex engineering surveying tasks associated with survey field operations
• Act independently and as part of a team supervising all phases of work in the field
• Lead a field survey crew with a hands-on approach
• Collect and supervise the collection of survey data
• Manage and direct field personnel
• Ensure adherence to survey procedures and safety requirements
• Operate survey instruments and data collection equipment to obtain accurate and reliable field measurements

Qualifications

• HS diploma (or GED) and a minimum of 3 years' land surveying experience
• Vocational school including course work in engineering technology or surveying, preferred
• Working environment includes outdoors, with exposure to environmental elements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Valid Driver's License
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills are required; including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Travel is required, clean driving record
