Survey Crew Chief

Key Responsibilities

• Perform construction layout and staking for various site features, including foundations, utilities, structures, grading, and other project elements.
• Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control necessary for construction activities.
• Conduct topographic surveys, cross-sections, and existing conditions documentation.
• Collect, process, and organize field data for as-built documentation and project records.
• Verify dimensions, elevations, and locations to ensure compliance with project plans and design requirements.
• Maintain accurate field notes, survey records, and documentation of field activities.
• Coincide with project teams to support construction schedules and field operations.
• Operate, maintain, and safeguard surveying equipment and technology.
• Perform calculations, plan reviews, and quality checks to ensure data accuracy.
• Aid with additional surveying and project support tasks as needed.

Desired Qualifications

• 2+ years of surveying experience, preferably within construction, infrastructure, transportation, or heavy civil projects.
• Experience using GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and related field technology.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with CAD software, digital plan review tools, and standard office applications is preferred.
• Understanding of survey calculations, coordinate geometry, and construction layout principles.
• Exposure to machine control technology is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
