About the role
We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief with an innovative mindset, strong time management skills, organization, and a good work ethic to make an impact in the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup and operation of surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Perform basic measurements, readings, and calculations during field surveys.
- Assist in the collection of survey data, including field notes, measurements, and observations.
- Support the proper documentation and organization of survey data.
- Work collaboratively with other crew members and under the guidance of senior crew members or surveyors.
- Follow instructions and guidance from senior crew members or surveyors to complete assigned tasks.
- Assist in the transportation and setup of surveying equipment in the field.
- Provide general assistance to the survey crew as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance and care of surveying instruments, equipment, and tools.
- Follow proper procedures for the cleaning, storage, and transportation of equipment.
- Report any equipment issues or needs to senior crew members or surveyors.
- Assist in the transfer and integration of field data into surveying software or databases.
- Collaborate with senior crew members or surveyors to resolve data discrepancies or issues.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for the survey crew.
- Participate in safety briefings and training sessions to maintain safe work practices.
- Report any safety concerns or hazards to senior crew members or surveyors.
- Actively learn and develop surveying skills and knowledge under the guidance of senior crew members or surveyors.
- Seek opportunities to enhance understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Participate in training and development activities as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of survey experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment is advantageous.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to carry and operate surveying equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license.
