Survey Crew Chief
About the role
Civil Science is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our growing Idaho survey team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled field professional who enjoys leading survey operations, solving problems in the field, and working on impactful infrastructure and transportation projects across eastern and southern Idaho.
What You'll Do
- Lead field survey crews on transportation, infrastructure, and public works projects throughout Idaho.
- Perform construction staking, boundary, topographic, and design surveys using Trimble GPS, robotic total stations, and other advanced survey equipment.
- Collect, process, and verify accurate survey data while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to support successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior survey staff and contribute to continuous improvement of survey operations.
What You'll Bring
- Required Qualifications:
- - 5+ years of professional survey field experience.
- - Experience leading survey crews or independently managing field survey operations.
- - Proficiency with:
- Trimble GPS equipment
- Robotic Total Stations
- Trimble Business Center
- Civil 3D
- Adobe Acrobat
- - Strong experience with:
- Construction staking/layout
- Boundary surveying
- Topographic surveys
- - Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and travel as projects require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing ALTA surveys.
- ITD design survey experience.
- Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred).
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure is a plus but not required for this Crew Chief role.
- Part 107 Drone Pilot License
