Responsibilities
- Perform research of surveying and mapping records from different sources (e.g., SRS, RealQuest, DataTree, and public agencies).
- Review title report documents, analyze deeds, and retrace easements.
- Prepare and analyze survey-related CAD drawings, including boundary surveys, topographic maps, ALTA/NSPS surveys, subdivision maps, and as-built surveys.
- Affix legal descriptions, plats, and exhibits as required for various project types.
- Post-process survey data and perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct calculations for boundary analysis, and other survey tasks using Civil 3D and other industry software.
- Perform closure calculations, coordinate geometry (COGO) computations, and resolve discrepancies in field data.
- Collaborate with survey project managers to ensure project objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Ensure compliance with jurisdictional codes, standards, and survey regulations.
- Communicate effectively with field staff, engineers, and clients to clarify survey requirements and resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-15 years of experience in a similar role within the surveying, engineering, or construction industry.
- LSIT is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and other relevant software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, boundary analysis, coordinate geometry, and construction staking techniques.
- Familiarity with processing submittals to city, county, and public agencies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently, and perform accurate and precise calculations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work independently and effectively with project teams and clients.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of California land use laws, regulations, and survey standards.
- Experience in preparing legal descriptions, plats, and other deliverables for public and private sector projects.
- Previous field experience as a survey technician or crew member is a plus.
