Surgical Technology Program Director-MMC
About the Role
The Program Director oversees all aspects of management and administration for their assigned program, including teaching, student advising, program development, clinical/extern site management, internship coordination, student progression, data analysis, scheduling, and retention. The role ensures compliance with company policies, accrediting bodies, and state regulations while fostering a high-quality learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a conducive learning environment for students and faculty.
- Identify, hire, and train qualified faculty.
- Monitor and promote integration of the Ancora Education Learning Philosophy and Core Classroom Principles in daily instruction and student interactions.
- Partner with the Director of Education to lead faculty development, including orientation, training, and professional growth.
- Provide timely faculty mentoring, observations, coaching, and feedback.
- Maintain course schedules and assign faculty workloads in accordance with company and regulatory policies.
- Collaborate with the Campus President and Director of Education to ensure adequate equipment, training materials, and resources for the program.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with national and programmatic accreditation standards.
- Identify, coordinate, and maintain relationships with external clinical/externship providers.
- Advise students on academic performance and program progression.
- Evaluate program outcomes and implement improvement strategies as needed.
- Maintain curriculum in alignment with company, state, and accreditor standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Credential in surgical technology through an NCCA-accredited national certification program.
- Associate degree or higher.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the operating room scrub role, as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both within the past 10 years.
- Current, valid licensure where applicable.
- Meets all state and accreditor requirements to qualify as an instructor for the program.
- 1 year of management experience.
- Understanding of adult learning principles with demonstrated ability to teach/train adult learners.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse groups of employees and customers.
- Ability to travel to extern/clinical/job sites.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in education program administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher-level degree than the minimum programmatic requirement in the corresponding field from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized institution.
- Experience with curriculum writing.
- 3 years of management experience.
Physical Demands
The role may require occasional standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are expected.
Work Environment
The work environment is typically indoors and not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
