Surgical Technologist - Main OR

About the role

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist or Certified Surgical Technologist to prepare operating rooms, gather supplies, and assist during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Preparing supplies and equipment
• Maintaining a sterile field
• Acting as second assistant to the surgeon
• Assisting with draping, specimen handling, and operating surgical instruments like staplers and ESU
• Equipment and supply maintenance
• Room turnover
• Supporting unit operations
• Mentoring new staff
• Ensuring compliance with competencies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• BLS certification
• Completion of accredited surgical tech program or equivalent military training
• 10+ years' experience preferred
• Certification is optional but preferred

Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge
• Sterile technique
• Able to monitor the sterile field
• Effective communication

Limitations

• Cannot perform invasive procedures
• Cannot administer medications
• Cannot manipulate grafts without specific competencies
