Job Description
The Surgical Technologist II ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and using critical thinking to anticipate the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes, and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adhering to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety is essential. Working closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures is also part of the role. The Surgical Technologist serves as a role model to new employees and other staff members, demonstrating advanced knowledge and practice of aseptic and surgical techniques.
Licensure and Certification
Required in the state of practice. Certification/Licensure: Virginia Surgical Technologist License REQUIRED Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification REQUIRED Surgical Technologist Certification REQUIRED
