Job Description

The Surgical Technologist II ensures the operating room is properly prepared with necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure. Duties include passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, anticipating the surgeon's needs, applying dressings, securing surgical drapes, transferring patients to recovery areas, adhering to infection control protocols, and sterile techniques to ensure patient safety. The role also involves working closely with the surgical team to maintain smooth and effective procedures and serving as a role model to new employees and other staff members. The Surgical Technologist must demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice of aseptic and surgical techniques.

Licensure and Certification

Required in the state of practice: Virginia Surgical Technologist License. Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Required: Surgical Technologist Certification.

Experience

3 years Surgical Technologist experience required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the operating room is properly prepared with necessary instruments and equipment
• Assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs
• Applies dressings, secures surgical drapes, and transfers patients to recovery areas
• Maintains patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols and sterile techniques
• Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures
• Serves as a role model to new employees and other staff members
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and practice of aseptic and surgical techniques
