About the role
This role is generally responsible for providing clinical support in a vascular medical office. The Surgical Technologist will collaborate with clinical leadership in the performance of the clinical and patient care aspects of their duties, and will always act within scope of practice under the authority of attending surgeon and nursing staff. This role reports to the Office Manager for operational matters and to clinical leadership for clinical matters. This is a non-exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Assist in procedure rooms
- Assemble surgical packs, supplies, and instruments for cases
- Prepare procedure rooms for cases
- Maintain a sterile field
- Assist with inventory for procedure rooms
- Provide technical assistance to physicians and nurses
- Assist as needed with daily operations of the clinic and office-based lab, including:
- Managing office telephone, including answering calls and providing 24-hour callbacks to all patients as needed
- Assisting with scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments
- Assisting with patient referrals and insurance authorization for procedures
- Maintaining patient medical information, including medical history and health insurance
- Maintaining orders and stocking supplies
- Clean and sterilize equipment
- Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians and other clinical staff as needed
- Maintain HIPAA guidelines
- Maintain compliance databases
Requirements
- Surgical technologist certification or within 6 months of graduation from an accredited program
- BLS certification
- 1+ year experience in a medical setting, ideally surgical
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely
Pay
$28/hour - $33/hour. Negotiable based on skills and experience.
