Surgical Technologist General Surgery

About the role

The Surgical Tech works under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non‑invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical tech recognizes significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notifies the appropriate patient care team as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Surgical Technologist I

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Tech program with ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Technologist/Technician role if a Surgical Tech program has not been completed.
• Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS).

Surgical Technologist II

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Tech program and Surgical Technologist Certification with a minimum of 3 years working in
