Responsibilities

  • Aid in the care of the childbearing mother and newborn.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive family-centered environment.
  • Support the obstetrical team during delivery and operative procedures.
  • Care for the childbearing mother during all stages of labor.
  • Manage surgical and procedural instruments and devices efficiently.
  • Work as part of a team and follow directions.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and staff professionally.
  • Implement PFCC principles such as respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration.
  • Prepare and pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to the operating team.
  • Ensure proper disposal of surgical specimens and inventory, prepare, and stock equipment and supplies.
  • Transfer patients as needed and follow cases offsite.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
  • Moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring of patients.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in perinatal care.
  • NBSTSA certification.
  • Experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Teamwork and direction-taking abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
