About the role

The surgical technologist II works under the supervision of the circulating registered nurse and collaborates with service-line coordinators, clinical supervisors, and the surgery manager. This role involves ensuring the functionality and sterility of operating room supplies and equipment, scrubbing and handling instruments during surgical procedures, adhering to aseptic techniques, and assisting in the stocking and receiving of supplies for various specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the functionality, availability, and sterility of OR supplies and equipment before the start of the daily caseload.
  • Scrubbing and handling instruments during surgical procedures.
  • Adhering to standards of aseptic technique in all phases of surgical intervention.
  • Demonstrating competence in performing scrub services for a variety of surgical procedures.
  • Assisting service-line coordinators in receiving and stocking supplies/equipment for a cluster of specialties.
  • Reporting variations in stock inventory levels to the service-line coordinators and materials management.
  • Communicating opportunities for systems improvement to the service-line coordinators and surgery manager.
  • Participating in selected patient care activities such as room turnover and transporting as needed.
  • Supporting the philosophy, objectives, and goals of hospital administration and its representatives.

Requirements

Required qualifications include completion of an accredited surgical technologist course (or more than 10 years of experience), National Provider BLS certification, and two years of experience as a surgical technologist with the ability to scrub in five of the eight core service-line clusters (general/urology/gynecology, orthopedics, spine, cardiac, thoracic/vascular, neuro, EENT/plastics/maxillofacial, and robotics).

Preferred qualifications include an associate's degree and certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants should have the ability to scrub in the service-lines as listed above, and may be eligible for waiver of the minimum experience requirement if this ability is met.

Essential skills include excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. The base pay range is $35.59 - $51.26 per hour, and additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

This role is full-time and works on a day shift.
