Surgical Technician

Position Summary

Scrub Technician provides patient care under the direct supervision of O.R. Staff Nurse through scrubbing surgical cases. Assist Nurse with circulating duties, including obtaining the appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment for the surgical procedure.

Education

Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program - Preferred

Experience

1 Year Surgical Technician - Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Core Job Functions

• Set up OR room per guidelines for each procedure, with quick turn over times between cases.
• Consistently check light sources, instruments, and accessory equipment for proper functioning.
• Performs as an assistant to attending physician under the direction of a physician or registered nurse.
• Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures by cleaning counters, light sources, carts, emptying suction canisters, and setting up appropriate equipment for next procedure.
• Identifies and uses correct procedure card for supplies and instruments. Ensures sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure.
• Completes case carts accurately and promptly.
• Aids in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
• Educates and implements AORN standards. Implements environmental standards.
• Follows established processes for achievement of tasks. Keeps team leader/management team informed of tasks not completed or challenges in assignments.
