About the role
At LensCrafters Surgical Clinics, the Ophthalmic Surgical Tech handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. On surgery days, you will ensure quality patient care and maintain surgical sepsis. On non-surgery days, you will support general clinic preparation, administration, and other assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures
- Review patient charts for consent, H&P, and documentation of pre-op medication and allergies
- Scrub, gown, and glove for surgical procedures
- Set up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions
- Verify accuracy of implant orders and ensure implant availability
- Gown and glove the surgeon and assistants
- Assist in draping the sterile field
- Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures
- Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Assist with terminal cleaning of the room
- Utilize proper aseptic techniques in prepping the room for the next patient
Requirements
- Relevant experience in a medical, surgical, or optical environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong basic math skills
- Strong command of the English language for written and oral communication
- Committed team player with a dedication to detail and process
- Proven ability to problem solve
Qualifications
- Relevant medical or surgical certifications/degrees (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of basic optics (preferred)
- State licensure, if applicable (preferred)
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) and/or Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE) (preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (preferred)
