Job Summary

The Operating Room Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse circulator to facilitate safe and effective care. They select and prepare the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases, scrub on surgical cases, operate surgical equipment, participate in surgery by organizing the instrumentation, participate in surgical counts, and perform related activities under the direction of the Registered Nurse circulator and surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Selects and prepares the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases
• Functions in a professional manner on a wide variety of surgical procedures
• Scrubbs on surgical cases and operates surgical equipment
• Participates in surgery by organizing the instrumentation and participates in surgical counts
• Performs related activities under the direction of the Registered Nurse circulator and surgeon

Qualifications

• Required: Education - Graduate of an Accredited School of Surgical Technology
• Licensure/Certification - Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), BLS
• PREFERRED: Experience - One year experience working as a certified surgical technologist preferred.
