Responsibilities

• Clean surfaces and equipment in the operating room (OR). Decontaminate after surgery and as needed by the team. Dispose of hospital waste safely.
• Transport patients, lab samples, and supplies, executing various tasks as required.
• Manage inventory by monitoring levels, restocking supplies, and ordering as needed to maintain supplies in different areas.
• Audit case carts based on doctor's preferences, checking supplies for surgeries, and restocking as needed.
• Support clinicians inside and outside the operating room by opening sterile supplies for procedures under supervision.
• Prepare for surgical cases by checking instrument sets, selecting supplies, and performing flash sterilization tests.
• Respond to emergencies by following established procedures and guidelines, completing on-call duties promptly, and acting as a resource for the surgical team.
• Staff hired before September 1, 2009, as surgical support techs may hold retractors during surgery without requiring program completion.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Less than one year of experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer

Skills

• Preference for applicants with past experience in a healthcare-related field
• Familiarity with basic office equipment and computer systems
• Proven capability to effectively multitask and solve problems autonomously
• Precision in work while maintaining flexibility in dynamic scenarios
