Surgical Services Manager

About the role

The Surgical Services Manager is responsible for the operational oversight, coordination, and support of perioperative services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care, including coordination and management of the outpatient department of Bariatrics. The Perioperative Services Manager oversees patient concerns for the Bariatric clinic and Surgical Services units, provides direct and supervised care to established plans, and is responsible for Patient Experience initiatives and overall issues pertaining to patient care.

This role works with surgeons, manages office staff, and integrates all aspects of the pre-op, post-op, and support functions of the outpatient Bariatric Clinic. The focus is on providing a safe, effective environment for patients and staff through increased communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational aspects of perioperative services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
• Coordinate and manage the outpatient department of Bariatrics.
• Address patient concerns for the Bariatric clinic and Surgical Services units.
• Provide direct and supervised care following established plans.
• Lead Patient Experience initiatives and resolve issues pertaining to patient care.
• Collaborate with surgeons and manage office staff.
• Integrate pre-op, post-op, and support functions of the outpatient Bariatric Clinic.
• Foster a safe and effective environment through improved communication and customer service.

Requirements

• Current Nursing licensure in the State of California or strong perioperative knowledge and leadership experience with a background as a Surgical Technologist or related surgical services role.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of clinical experience, including experience in patient care management.
• Current BLS certification.
• Skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical competence in caring for the specific age and type of patient population served.
• Basic understanding of management and leadership principles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate a customer service attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to build interpersonal relationships that enhance communication.
