Surgical (Scrub) Tech - Evenings

About the Role

The Surgical Technician (OR TECH) under the supervision of an Operating Room Registered Nurse, assists in providing nursing care to a designated population in collaboration with the members of the health care team.

Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping, etc.), demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique, and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.

Responsibilities

• Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.
• Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and organizing equipment.
• Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.
• Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.
• Assesses and responds appropriately in emergency situations to prioritize and meet patients’ immediate needs.
• Acts as a patient advocate and protects the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.
• Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Certified Surgical Technician
• 1-2 years of experience
