Surgical Scheduler, Part-Time, Nights, Labor & Delivery, Washington Township
About the role
The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient and customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient and outpatient procedures and/or surgeries. This role supports the delivery of the Jefferson Experience by emphasizing prompt and courteous treatment of all patients.
Responsibilities
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Collect and review patient insurance information, including obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information, ensuring all necessary approvals are in place prior to scheduled surgical procedures.
- Complete pre-procedure phone calls and confirm appointment times with patients via telephone.
- Provide patients with all necessary pre-operative instructions.
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for all patients and visitors.
- Ability to process and interpret data.
- Ability to multitask while managing a time-sensitive workload.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting and standing.
- Frequent keyboard use.
- Additional activities specific to patient care providers may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
Pay
Hourly salary range: $17.78 to $25.33. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Work Shift: Workday Night.
