The listed pay range reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).
About the Role
This position collaborates with OR and GI Endoscopy Unit teams to schedule cases, negotiate dates and times, and avoid resource conflicts. The role ensures efficient patient flow, maximizes physician productivity, and coordinates with various departments and external resources to meet special procedure needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with OR and GI Endoscopy Unit to schedule cases, negotiating date and time, and avoiding resource conflicts.
- Coordinates special procedure needs with appropriate departments, staff, and external resources.
- Gathers complete patient and procedure information and schedules procedures and testing on a timely basis.
- Prepares and distributes schedules in accordance with established time frames.
- Works closely with physicians and office administration to schedule and maximize utilization of time.
- Obtains pre-certification and authorizations from insurance carriers to facilitate efficiency and minimize procedure-related issues.
- Completes referrals and pre-certifications for patients according to insurance requirements.
- Assists co-workers during periods of heightened patient activity.
- Oversees registration, checkout, and medical records handling to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Reviews routine issues, difficulties, and unusual circumstances with physicians and handles patient problems or complaints.
- Performs medical receptionist duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, filing medical records, checking patients in and out, collecting co-pays, and completing associated paperwork.
- Coordinates communication of follow-up care needs and reminder cards to patients.
- Manages filing of medical records, preparation and purging of charts, and effective record management.
- Plans daily schedules to maximize physician productivity and coordinates other physician activities with Capital Health departments.
- Coordinates hospital patient activity for doctors and billing company.
- Works directly with providers to implement scheduling for maximum productivity and coordinates resources (e.g., exam rooms, equipment).
- Develops and implements practice-specific plans for introducing and growing the practice in the community in conjunction with physicians and management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in a medical office or hospital setting.

- Frequent physical demands: Sitting, wrist position deviation, pinching/fine motor activities, keyboard use/repetitive motion, talking, or hearing.
- Occasional physical demands: Standing, walking, climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), carrying objects, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, squatting/kneeling/crawling.

Pay
Pay Range: $18.57 - $23.23 per hour.
Schedule
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 (full-time).
