About the role

The Surgical Resource Technologist for Surgical Technologist is an extension of the Perioperative Education Organizational Structure. This position assumes responsibility for all related activities related to surgical technical competence in the provision of high quality and safe patient care. They collaborate with Talent Development and Optimization, Technical Colleges, and other content experts/educators to provide educational opportunities and improve student and staff competence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Talent Development and Optimization, Technical Colleges, and other content experts/educators to provide educational opportunities and improve student and staff competence.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with mission, values, and service standards of Mercy Health.
  • Assumes responsibility for all related activities related to surgical technical competence in the provision of high quality and safe patient care.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations.
  • Must understand English both written and spoken.
  • Must have good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets, and equipment.
  • May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and/or days of the week.
  • Requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Requirements

  • Significant amount of Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
  • Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
  • Surgical Technology Certification preferred.
  • Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience.

Qualifications
