Surgical First Assistant- Weekends

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform the duties of a Certified Surgical Technician II.
• Absorb and manipulate surgical instruments as directed by the surgeon.
• Prep the surgical site according to the surgeon's guidelines.
• Maintain hemostasis using various techniques as directed by the surgeon.
• Provide retraction and manipulation of tissue and organs as directed by the surgeon.
• Assist with the placement and suturing of surgical drains.
• Closure of all wound layers as per the surgeon’s directive.
• Assist with all procedures under the surgeon’s direction.
• Preserve the integrity of the sterile field.
• Perform other duties as defined and within the scope of practice, skill set, and level of competence.

Physical Requirements

• Able to bend, stoop, and reach.
• Able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10 lbs. of force constantly.
• Able to stand and walk for an 8 to 10 hour shift.
• May be required to travel between facilities.

Additional Job Description

• 12 hours per week on weekends.
