Medical Assistant (Weekends)

About the role

The role of Medical Assistant at Shady Grove Fertility in Fairfax, Virginia involves:

• Performing high volume of phlebotomy
• Maintaining supplies for the blood drawing stations
• Injection administration
• Aiding in the clinical care of fertility patients
• Ensuring lab specimens are sent to proper labs
• Providing patient/couple counseling, procedure teaching, communicating physician orders and instructions
• Performing semen washes and setting up for IUIs
• Taking vital signs and providing general clinical assistance
• Utilizing the computer in entering labs and printing labels
• Establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients' families
• Supporting and promoting excellence in customer service

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will:

• Collaborate with more than 200 highly respected physicians nationwide
• Partner with colleagues who are passionate about solving meaningful problems
• Perform high volume of phlebotomy
• Maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations
• Injection administration
• Aid in the clinical care of fertility patients
• Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs
• Provide patient/couple counseling, procedure teaching, communicate physician orders and instructions
• Perform semen washes and set up for IUIs
• Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance
• Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients' families
• Support and promote excellence in customer service

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Include:

• Strong phlebotomy skills required
• High School diploma
• Completion of a formal MA program; preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to follow-through, and high degree of comfort with computer applications, accuracy and speed with data entry is required
• Minimum of one year of prior experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology

Pay

$20 to $24 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Schedule

Every other weekend Saturday and Sunday, rotating between 6:15 AM to 12:00 PM or 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM
