Specific Responsibilities
- Provides medical and surgical support for primarily large laboratory animal species, including anesthesia, postoperative care and monitoring and gross necropsy evaluations.
- Performs imaging and other diagnostic procedures.
- Familiar with large animal IACUC protocols and may assist researchers in the development and preparation of IACUC protocols.
- Affirms the development of SOPs and other documents for CCM and the IACUC.
- Delivers various modes of training and/or presentations for CCM staff and others that use animals in research.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from a college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association or successful completion of the Education Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates program.

Salary Range
The offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The range for this position is between $130,000 - $190,000 per year.

- Job Summary: The Surgical Clinical Veterinarian possesses proficient surgical skills and is passionate about supporting the exciting advances in biomedical research. The work will help advance our understanding and contribute to improvements of medical and surgical care for both humans and animals. The Surgical Clinical Veterinarian will be part of the Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) large animal veterinary team (60% support) and the Querrey Simpson Institute for Regenerative Engineering at Northwestern University (RENU) (40% support).
