Surgical Assistant

OMS of South Texas - Edinburg is seeking a talented full-time surgical assistant to join our busy specialty practice. We are dedicated to improving the lives of our patients by providing a world-class specialty experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the surgical area, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating needs and providing support as required.
  • Keep surgical areas and instruments clean and sterilized.
  • Monitor and record patient vitals, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and provide post-operative instructions and materials to patients.
  • Help maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Facilitate and coordinate other office responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensure excellent patient service by addressing patient needs, concerns, and questions.
  • Help keep patients relaxed and comfortable during their visit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the surgeon or office manager.

Requirements

  • No prior experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Well-organized and reliable.
  • High school diploma.
  • Certificate from an accredited surgical assistant program (if required by law).
  • Active state radiology license (if required by law).
  • Current Texas RDA license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • HIPAA & OSHA trained.
  • Able to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment.
  • Able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas.
  • Able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods.
  • Able to work around medical equipment and instruments.
  • Able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards.
  • Able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Able to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Schedule

  • Full-time hours, Monday - Friday.

Pay

Position Base Pay Range: $12 - $14.50 USD.
