Surgery Scheduling Associate | Per Diem | Dayshift | Outpatient

Responsibilities
- Covers and schedules surgeries and follow-up appointments, as designated by physicians.
- Interacts with patients, physicians and staff to provide accurate, timely and responsive information within and outside clinics and facilities.
- Schedules patients for surgery and completes appropriate paperwork for surgery facilities.
- Verifies patient insurance coverage, determines whether surgical referrals or authorizations are needed and begins necessary processes.
- Answers phone calls, takes referrals, receives messages and transfers calls, as appropriate.
- Faxes medication lists to doctors and performs other faxing or file transmissions, as necessary.
- Films, photocopies and scans client records.
- Affirms operating room, staff, equipment and instrument availability before scheduling cases.
- Ensures computer and office-equipment knowledge are maintained up to date.
- Prepares daily reports and generates monthly statistical reports, in adherence with established procedures.
- Schedules daily operating room (OR) use.
- Schedules call sheets for appropriate areas and prepares pre-admission visit schedules.
- Provides daily operating room schedules, call sheets and pre-admission visit schedules.
- Works with appropriate departments to ensure accurate and timely information for patient billing.
- Schedules nursing staff, receives referrals and assigns tasks to appropriate staff.
- Schedules new nursing staff for one-on-one training with existing staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Organizes and maintains accurate records.
- Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Medical Assistant certification: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $31.84. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
