Responsibilities
- Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
- Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
- Verify necessary information and record information in patient's medical record.
- Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
- Maintain and update physician's calendars.
- Answer telephone, screen calls, clear voicemail, and return patient calls in a timely manner.
- Answer questions regarding patient's upcoming surgeries.
- Update patient information.
- Prepare surgical packet materials.
- Assist in training and orienting new staff.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understand and perform training on practice management software; continue to expand knowledge as updates occur.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1-year experience in medical scheduling.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in surgery scheduling.
