Surgery RN - Evening Shift / Mid Shift
About the Role
Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and providing care via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The Perioperative RN is accountable for planning and directing the care of every patient undergoing operative and invasive procedures. The Perioperative RN directs and supervises the surgical team members.
Schedule
Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Work shifts may include:
- Five days a week, Monday - Friday, either 10:30am to 7pm or 2:30pm to 11pm
- Three 12-hour shifts from 10:15am to 10:45pm
Night and weekend call is required, along with holiday call and disaster emergency call. The Perioperative RN must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.
Requirements
- Graduate from a NLN accredited school of nursing
- Current LA RN license
- BLS certification required or obtained during orientation
- ALS certification required within 6 months of hire
- Current BLS and ALS certifications through any ILCOR-provided courses (e.g., Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, American Red Cross) with a manikin check-off
- Able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit-specific standards
- One year of Surgery RN experience required; two years preferred
- Acute care facility surgery experience preferred
- CNOR Certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Must possess good physical health
- Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time
- Lifting at least 50 pounds
- Ability to work with a moderate level of noise

- Frequently (34%-66%): lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching
