Surg Tech Traveler Multiple Shifts Available

About the role

Responsibilities
Performs a variety of tasks to maintain an organized and sterile field during surgeries and procedures, including scrubbing, selecting, providing, and prepping surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment while adhering to HonorHealth policies.
- Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedures.
- Anticipates needs for additional equipment, supplies, or instruments by assessing patient, physician, and procedure requirements and responds accordingly.
- Maintains a proper sterile field.
- Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies and ensuring their working order.
- Assumes accountability for instrumentation and returns it to the decontamination room or Central Sterile Processing Department.
- Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team, including orienting and instructing personnel in the scrub role.
- Participates in restocking and cleaning operating rooms and equipment.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area and reports unsafe conditions.
- Assists with the orientation, guidance, and evaluation of new staff and students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Certified Surgical Technician/Technologist certification (preferred).
Experience
- For network float positions: Two (2) years of surgical technician experience (required).
- For travelers: Minimum 13-week assignment in a full-time status (required).
- Three (3) years of experience as a graduate of a vocational surgical technician school or three (3) years of surgical technician experience (required).
- Three (3) years as a surgical technician/technologist (preferred).
