Surface Welder Technician

About the role

You will weld components using various methods and welding equipment to support mining operations. You will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Provide welding and fabrication needs with emphasis on maintenance inspections, adjustments and repairs.
• Work independently in a remote island setting.
• Complete required maintenance reports and logs.
• Perform line bore experience required (Please note level of experience on resume).
• Lead and perform welding fabrication projects as required.
• Rebuild buckets (Experience preferred).
• Execute according to engineered repair plans/prints (Boom, Man Baskets, Cab/Rops).
• Maintain equipment in a safe condition.
• Comply with site, state, and MSHA regulations.
• Inspect work areas before starting every job.
• Work as part of a team and independently when needed.

Requirements

• MSHA training within the first 4 days on the job.
• Department-level training on safety and procedures.
• Experience with bucket rebuilding (preferred).
• Experience with line bore work (required).
• Specific certifications (please list).
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to weld in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
• Knowledge of mag and dye testing.

Qualifications

• Current authorization to work in the United States.
