About the role
NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a safety-focused Surface Prep Technician to join our team in Ashland City, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Prepare steel materials, assemblies, and fabricated components for welding, painting, and final production processes.
- Operate grinders and other hand tools to remove slag, weld spatter, burrs, rust, and surface imperfections.
- Clean and prepare metal surfaces according to production requirements and quality standards.
- Inspect work areas and completed surfaces to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Assist welders, fitters, and other production personnel as needed.
- Move materials and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required for surface preparation activities.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous manufacturing, construction, fabrication, grinding, or industrial experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to safely operate grinders, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and perform a variety of production support tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, and other protective equipment as required.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures depending on the work area.
- Ability to work around dust, noise, vibration, and other manufacturing conditions.
- Ability to work at elevated heights or in confined spaces when required.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays based on production needs.
