Surface Characterization Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Working with other technical personnel to develop, refine and maintain various surface imaging technologies on the processes assigned.
  • Train and coach production and maintenance employees on the daily use and routine maintenance of these surface imaging technologies.
  • Work with operating personnel to define reaction plans and incorporate these technologies into daily management and problem solving.
  • Affirm incorporation of Lean manufacturing tools such as kaizens, problem solving A3s, and so on towards continuous improvement in the use of the surface imaging tools and the continuous improvement of the products.
  • Affirm incorporation of Human Performance tools and coaching towards producing a quality product in a safe manner.
  • Support system reliability by maintaining an adequate spare part inventory and advising on maintenance schedules.
  • Basic Surface inspection system software/hardware installation as well as maintenance activities.
  • Assist in trouble shooting and repairs to the systems in conjunction with other technical resources within the corporation and the system supplier(s).
  • Assist in problem solving customer issues by serving as help chain for Field Service personnel and in some cases interacting directly with customers.
  • Establish and follow relevant report and data storage procedures to ensure all corporate and customer specifications are met.
  • Use of APQP quality systems tools (FMEA, control plans, reactions plans), corrective action tools, and auditing processes to ensure the quality of the products produced and adherence to established procedures and relevant industrial specifications (TS16949, AS9100, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: High School or GED. Demonstrated capability to learn, interact and apply new computer programs and technology. Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience in a technical or operation support role. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred. Quality systems, Rolling, Sheet fabricating or technical support experience. Inspection or Automotive, Aerospace or Industrial customer experience. Experience with Surface Quality Monitoring (SQM) systems.
