Summary
The Assistant Mgr, Environmental Services is responsible for the effective supervision of daily and area specific Environmental Services activities. Serves as first level escalation point for issues/concerns, and monitors the daily work outcomes for EVS Specialists. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and justifies workload trends and staffing levels.
- Responsible for the effective supervision of daily and area specific Environmental Services activities.
- Ensures accurate and timely delivery of patients, specimens, bloods, equipment, and other patient-related items; ensures maximum staff productivity.
- Resolves problems related to patient, visitor, staff, or employee complaints.
- Maintains a safe, healthy, and pleasant work environment for staff and patients; ensures dispatch and transport equipment is safe and in good, clean working condition; provides and maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures for departmental operations are adhered to.
- Ensures the delivery of quality and timely service to patients, physicians, visitors, and staff.
- Schedules paid time off and other benefit time; ensures adherence to departmental staffing guidelines on a daily basis; responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels; ensures accuracy of all appropriate records and time sheets.
- Assists with managing compliance with the standard universal and disease-specific precautions and the OSHA blood borne pathogen standard; works to comply with all federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Ensures that public areas are appropriately sanitized to project a strong positive image.
- Communicates pertinent policy & procedure information to ensure compliance to infection control and sanitation standards.
- Other duties as assigned and/or required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years professional operations management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.

- Mental ability to provide excellent judgment for problem solving related to the performance of associates' coordination of activities related to Patient Transportation Services; enforcement of policies and emergency or stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact, motivate and communicate with a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a professional manner; guest relations skills must be strong, genuine and noticeable.
- Physical ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing or sitting.
- Effective verbal, listening, presentation and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills utilizing a Windows-based Operating System: ability to troubleshoot system problems related to computer or software systems and initiate internal or external resolution to system issues.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Range: $25.20 - $35.60 per hour
- Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)
- Shift: Shift 1
- Work Schedule: 8 Hr (7:00:00 AM - 3:30:00 PM)
