SUPV IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC)
This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is a mission-critical role supporting US Cyber Command, classified as Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, located in DISA - J9 - Hybrid Cloud Solutions, DoDNET Services (HC3E).
Responsibilities
- Supervises a technical team in the administration, maintenance, and security of enterprise server environments and information systems.
- Oversees the implementation of Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity policies across enterprise systems.
- Adapts technical guidelines and standard procedures to resolve system administration and operational issues.
- Directs daily workflow, conducts employee performance evaluations, and coordinates operations with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months per DoD 8140 policy series.
- Subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
- May be subject to varying work shifts and shift rotations for mission support, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
Qualifications
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing IT-related work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: Experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing IT needs, and developing tailored solutions.
- Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or operations, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering information from multiple sources.
In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must possess at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service. For the GG-13 level, qualifying experience includes:
- Supervising a technical team in enterprise server administration, maintenance, and security.
- Overseeing the implementation of DoD cybersecurity policies.
- Adapting technical guidelines to resolve complex systems administration issues.
- Directing workflow, conducting performance evaluations, and coordinating with stakeholders.
Volunteer experience (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) may be credited as qualifying experience. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience in their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of the announcement. Combination of education and experience is not applicable for this position.
Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

- A three-year trial period may be required if not previously completed in the excepted or competitive service.
- A one-year probationary period for supervisory positions applies.
- Telework availability is mission-dependent and subject to supervisory determination.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140, subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
