About the role

This position is located in the DISA OC/PACIFIC. It is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and operates the Regional Network Operations and Security Center (RNOSC) supporting USINDOPACOM capabilities/services.
  • Directs network assurance capabilities in support of United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) directives and missions, ensuring continuous defense in depth of the DoDIN.
  • Secures, operates and defends the DoDIN supporting Combatant Commanders, Military Departments Operation Centers, DoD and non-DoD Agencies, Joint Staff, and Allies and Partners.
  • Provides conceptual and technical guidance and advice on complex technical and operational matters related to the Division's functions and responsibilities.
  • Directs and oversees the activities of over 100 civilian, military, and contract personnel engaged in operational support for defensive cyber operations, communication networks, and information systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) and/or other locations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) up to 10 percent of the time.
  • The incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 Executive Branch Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon entering the position and annually thereafter.
  • This is a Key Position. This position cannot be vacated during an emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. The nature of the position's duties and the organization's operational mission requires the incumbent to physically report to their duty station in certain situations where non-essential employees are excused.
  • This is a drug testing position.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. Your resume and work experience should clearly support your ability to meet these competencies and will be evaluated as part of the entire application process.

  • Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

Qualifying Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: experience directing enterprise network & security operations; directing and managing the 24/7 operations of a large-scale, globally distributed Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC).

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education: There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-15 grade level.
