About the Team

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital featuring a new emergency department, state-of-the-art maternity center, women's imaging center, and ICU.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a professional leader responsible and accountable for the histology department.
  • Direct oversight of staff performing histology specimen preparation and testing specific to the pathology/histology department.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
  • OR Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical, or biological science with more than 2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification within a specific area (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)). Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
  • Experience as a Histology Technologist with current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
  • 1+ years of experience with high complexity testing in Pathology.
  • Overall knowledge of lab operations, including quality control, safety, and problem-solving.
  • Evidence of leadership skills in managing people.
  • Knowledge of department shift operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Histotechnologist.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.

Pay

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
