About the role
Manages clean linen distribution and maintains tracking and accountability of linen supplies.
Supervises staff by assigning work, training, hiring, evaluating performance, administering progressive discipline, and recommending termination as appropriate.
Creates and reviews schedules, approving scheduling requests to ensure adequate coverage.
Surveys departmental procedures for adherence to acceptable cleaning practices, ensuring compliance with State/Federal regulations and standards.
Solves patient satisfaction concerns in a timely manner.
Maintains supplies by monitoring and replenishing as needed.
Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors.
Reviews and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCAHO, Federal, State, and Local regulations and standards.
Manages reporting logs in the department, including Attendance, Hazardous Materials Monthly inspections, and Hazardous Books compliance.
Captures ATP-GEL process and compliance, reporting inspections to leadership to ensure staff notification and training, if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Reviews and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCAHO, Federal, State, and Local regulations and standards.
- Manages reporting logs in the department, including Attendance, Hazardous Materials Monthly inspections, and Hazardous Books compliance.
- Captures ATP-GEL process and compliance, reporting inspections to leadership to ensure staff notification and training, if applicable.
Requirements
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Able to communicate in English.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Minimum of three (3) years hospital housekeeping or other building maintenance experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year supervisor experience.
- Able to plan, organize, direct, and control.
- Knowledge of all phases of healthcare cleaning.
- Able to work with all levels of staff and customers.
- Able to manage expenses and work within a budgeting process.
- Able to conduct meetings and training sessions.
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention Practices.
- Knowledge of safe chemical usage.
- Safety issues related to healthcare.
- Excellent customer and employee relations skills.
- Flexibility in scheduling of hours, including the requirement to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization and people skills.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and work well with others, using tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Exceptional customer service skills; able to diplomatically handle stressful situations.
- Able to articulate comprehensive knowledge of general and specialized practices and both performs and instructs others.
Qualifications
- High School Grad or Equiv.
- Field Of Study in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Health Administration.
- 1+ leadership/management experience.
- 1+ technical experience.
Skills
