Supported Employment Job Coach

About the Role

Harbor is seeking a Supported Employment Job Coach to join our vocational team in the Toledo area. This contingent, as-needed position provides on-site job coaching to individuals with disabilities, helping them build the skills necessary to become independent in their employment.

Responsibilities

• Documentation
  • Ensure quality and completeness of electronic records.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation, including daily progress notes, job coaching plans, Incident Report forms, and other required forms.
  • Type documentation in formats acceptable to Harbor.
  • Maintain active communication with funding sources and supervisors regarding client progress.
• Evaluation
  • Provide job coaching, Job Seeking Skills Training (JSST), and/or job development activities for Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities.
  • Evaluate work sites for participant placement, assessing safety, supervision availability, and workload.
  • Analyze job duties and environments, breaking down tasks into trainable steps for clients.
  • Formulate interventions to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  • Assist clients in understanding the effects of employment on entitlements (e.g., SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Food Stamps).
• Ongoing Interventions
  • Provide individual and/or group job coaching at work sites.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding appropriate referrals for vocational or community programs/services.
  • Offer support, education (e.g., benefits counseling, job-seeking skills), and consultation to clients, families, and significant others.
  • Assist participants in problem-solving and managing barriers to employment (e.g., childcare, healthcare, transportation).
  • Stay current with trends and developments related to job competencies and demonstrate continued growth.
• Collaboration
  • Assist clients and families in increasing social support skills and networks.
  • Coordinate evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers.
  • Monitor all services identified in the referral.
  • Provide assistance in accessing essential community resources and linking with vocational resources (e.g., OOD, ODJFS, BWC).

Requirements

• Two years of teaching/training experience required; Bachelor’s degree with teaching/training experience preferred.
• Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal auto insurance to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks and six exclusionary database checks every 5 years, as required by OOD.
