Support Worker

About the role

The role is within Shelter, but you will also be part of Sheffield City Council’s HALT team which is multi-agency and works to support people sleeping rough who have drug and alcohol dependence needs. You will work to help people to settle and sustain their homes, support them to access and maintain engagement with substance treatment services. Making sure that Shelter is central to local systems change for people experiencing multiple disadvantages will be a key part of the role, representing Shelter at multi-agency meetings and panels as well as monitoring impact and outcomes to report to our funders.

Responsibilities

  • Support people sleeping rough with drug and alcohol dependence to settle and sustain their homes.
  • Help clients access and maintain engagement with substance treatment services.
  • Represent Shelter at multi-agency meetings and panels.
  • Monitor impact and outcomes to report to funders.
  • Contribute to local systems change for people experiencing multiple disadvantages.

Requirements

  • Sound understanding of support and housing issues.
  • Experience working with people with multiple disadvantages.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, drug and alcohol use, treatment, and pathways.
  • Experience working with multiple agencies to support people.
  • Full valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes (essential car user allowance provided).

Pay

£32,585 per annum plus £802 Essential Car User Allowance, pro-rated for part-time.

Schedule

  • 1 full-time post: 35 hours per week.
  • 1 part-time post: 28 hours per week.

About the team

Sheffield Hub has been established for over 25 years and provides support to over 5,000 people a year across the city. We work to improve the underlying systems that cause homelessness and housing problems, offering a range of help to people in the community, tailored to their needs. The team consists of around 70 staff, plus an invaluable team of volunteers.
